About the Authors

Authors: Jerry & Nancy Reed

We worked for 22 years in evangelism and church planting with the Evangelical Covenant Church in Ecuador (10 years) and Mexico (12 years). I (Jerry) had the joy of discipling each of our three children over breakfast once a week during their high school years in Mexico. They are now grown and have finished the university. Each is married and all together they have given us eight grandchildren. Our oldest child, Kathy, and her husband Steve live in Virginia near Washington D.C. and have three children. Dale and his wife Desire live upstairs in a building that we own together and also have three children. Our youngest, Rob, with his wife, Nancy, are missionaries in Spain doing church planting and have two children.

Jerry has a doctorate in missiology from the School of World Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary and since 1987 is the Milton B. Engebretson Professor of Evangelism, Discipleship and Church Growth at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. Nancy has two masters degrees -- one in Teaching English as a Second Language and the other in Family Counseling. She is the Coordinator for Hispanic Church Relations and works directly with national church leaders in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, and the Hispanic church in the U.S.A. They both travel and train church leaders in the basics of evangelism, discipling, mentoring, and multiplying church leaders at every level.
